Conducted from the spare bedroom of her Sunshine Coast home and born out of the frustration of not being able to source a quality product commercially, In the Knit of Time was initially started to produce a series of luxury bed throws for a B&B renovation project that it's founder Shelley was working on at the time ... and then she got the knitting bug and didn't want to stop!
Timeless luxury that will never go out of style. Made to order, each piece is an expression of my client's own unique style. Many hours go into the making of each hand made bed throw - a lot of patience and attention to detail; each piece is a real labour of love.
In this age of mass production and cheap copy cat design, my point of difference is that I offer bespoke luxury hand knitted bed throws and other homewares products, made to order to suit the individual tastes of my clients.
I custom make all bed throws to meet the individual preferences of my clients.. Bed throw sizes include the standard King, Queen, Double, King Single and Single sizes; couch throws, cushion covers and other products are custom-sized.
In the Featured Products section of this site you will see examples of the colours and yarns I have previously used for some of my earlier pieces, including Italian wool blend Cream, Gun Metal Grey, Teal, Denim Blue and Olive Green, as well as acrylic Baby Pink. The yarn suppliers I use have literally hundreds of colours and yarn types to choose from, so you are only limited by your imagination!
What type of yarn would you like your throw made from?
25% Alpaca; 25% Wool; 50% Acrylic
This yarn is a real favourite of mine and is the yarn I used in most of the featured products on this site. The combination of the wool and acrylic produces really super soft and cosy warm pieces.
100% Wool, other wool blends, and acrylic yarns in a variety of colours and weights.
When you're ready to order your throw we can discuss your specific design ideas. I can design something special and unique just for you, or you can choose from one of my existing designs. I have a good collection of both contemporary and traditional throw pattern designs (some of which are featured on the photos on this site). These include a number of cable styles, as well as ribbed, basketweave and seed stitch varieties and combinations, and I am experimenting with new ideas all the time.
Bed throws are the core of my business, but I also make a range of other knitted products - couch throws, cushion covers to match your throw/s, 'mini-me' dog throws/bed blankets, cotton face washer sets and more, and I'm adding new products all the time to my collection. Pom-Poms and tassels are a popular add-on, particularly features on dog throws. Sewn onto the short ends of a bed throw, or onto each of the four corners of the throw or cushion cover, they can be a fun additional feature.
All orders are hand-made, made-to-order, so the production time very much depends on the size and complexity of the piece/s. Typically, complex designs can take up to 2 months to make, whilst simpler designs can still take up to 45 days. Delivery costs also vary depending on your location and the timeframe within which you want the throw made and sent.
The cost of your custom-made piece will be discussed with you during the design process and you will be provided with a written quote to ensure you are happy to proceed on that basis. The prices listed against the bed throw pieces featured on this site are illustrative only (although if you wish to purchase one of these as featured, then you are more than welcome to shop these products on-line as advertised.) Featured products are still individually hand-made, so the usual timeframes apply.
